With Roman foundations, an elegant Renaissance facade and a few gothic elements thrown in for good measure, this 15th century church is aesthetically unique and one of Magliano in Toscana‘s most popular tourist attractions.
Inside the mix of styles and eras is continued, as a 14th century hexagonal travertine baptismal font decorated in classical motifs sits near a Baroque style altarpiece depicting San Carlo Borromeo and a 19th century temple-shaped tabernacle by a local craftsman – now that’s a mouthful!
The rest of the interior walls are almost entirely overrun by framed paintings, most of them dating back to the 14th century and still beautifully complete and colourful.
